Professor Andrew Skinner spoke at the Sept 06 gathering
of B'nai Shalom

The gatherings are always at the LDS Chapel, 142 West 200 North, Salt Lake City, Utah on the Thursday before General Conference. The program includes a potluck at 6:30pm, a keynote speech at 7:30pm and a cultural musical performance at 8:30pm.

The next gathering is Thursday, March 29 2007.

Andrew Skinner, Dean of Religious Education at BYU and previous chair of the department of Ancient Scripture, spoke on From the Dead Sea Scrolls to the DaVinci Code–What's of Value for Latter-day Saints. Dr. Skinner used his knowledge of archaeological finds and ancient texts through the millennia to tell us what's of interest and what's not.

One point that was made was that if we want to know what's true about such subjects, we do NOT go to popular novels or Hollywood media. We have an audio recording of his talk but are experimenting with a web space-friendly format.
